This is likely due to your water consumption. Check for any leaks or drips. Did anything change in your habits last month example: watering lawn/garden, has an extra person moved in, have you installed a new dishwasher, washer, or humidifier, have your toilets been running.
Contact our Utilities at desmond.mitchell@tsuutina.com if none of these apply to you.

Service charges are essential to maintaining and replacing water and sewer infrastructure, ensuring reliable and safe service for all users. These charges fund routine maintenance, repairs, and necessary upgrades to aging systems, helping to prevent disruptions, improve efficiency, and comply with regulatory standards. By investing in infrastructure sustainability, service charges support long-term reliability and quality of water and sewer services.
Your water meter is located inside your business. Crews take readings remotely each month.
Developers and business owners are responsible for purchasing meters and those meters must be purchased through the TDA to ensure compatibility with our remote reading system. Please contact tda.utilities@tsuutina.com or call 310-TAZA (8292).

Sewer Flushing (What is it? Why is it done?)
Tsuut’ina Nation regularly performs maintenance to keep its sewer pipes flowing smoothly. Cleaning is typically conducted around Sept and when needed, Monday to Friday, between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
---
Sanitary sewer mains are the pipes that carry wastewater from your home to the wastewater facilities. Everything you flush down toilets and drains, including water from dishwashers and washing machines, flows into these mains.
---
· During Cleaning: You can continue to use toilets, sinks, and other appliances.
· Air Pressure: Cleaning may cause noise in your sewer pipes and could lead to water splashing from toilets, sinks, and drains. To prevent spills, keep toilet lids closed and sink drains plugged when not in use.
· Odors: Sewer cleaning may produce short-term nuisance odors. To clear them, open a window for a few minutes, run water down sinks and bathtubs, flush toilets, and pour a pail of water into basement floor drains.
· Cleaning Process: No chemicals are used. High-pressure water loosens debris, which is then removed by a high-powered vacuum.
---
Cleaning sewer mains prevents blockages and backups by removing build-up such as tree roots, grease, grit, and sand. This maintenance helps keep sewer mains flowing, reduces the potential for odors, and protects our infrastructure. Cleaning is also necessary for CCTV inspections, which allow us to assess the condition of our sewer mains and make any required repairs or replacements.
---
You can help prevent blowbacks and odors in your home by:
· Adding Water: Occasionally add water to sinks and floor drains to prevent sewer gases from entering your home.
· Checking Vents: Inspect your plumbing vents each spring and fall for blockages, such as bird nests or leaves
1. Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth. Water comes out of the average faucet at 6 litres per minute. Don’t let all that water go down the drain while you brush! Turn off the faucet after you wet your brush and leave it off until it’s time to rinse.
2. Turn off the tap while washing your hands. Do you need the water to run while you’re scrubbing your hands? Save a few gallons of water and turn the faucet off after you wet your hands until you need to rinse.
3. Fix your leaks. Whether you do it yourself or hire a plumber, fixing leaky faucets can mean big water savings.
4. Cut your showers short. Older showerheads can use as much as 45 litres of water per minute. Speed things up in the shower for some serious water savings.
5. Choose efficient fixtures. Aerating your faucets, investing in a low-flow toilet, choosing efficient shower heads, and opting for a Water Sense rated dishwasher and washing machine can add up to big water savings.
6. Don’t run the dishwasher or washing machine until it’s full. Those half-loads add up to a lot of wasted water.
7. Install a rain barrel. Rainwater harvesting is a great way to keep your plants hydrated without turning on the hose or sprinkler.
8. Flush with less. Older toilets use a lot of water. You can reduce your usage by sinking a milk jug of water in the toilet tank or turning the screw on the arm to reduce the amount the tank fills. Do NOT use a brick, because it will break down and the sediment can damage your tank.
9. Water outdoor plants in the early morning. You’ll need less water since cooler morning temperatures mean losing less water to evaporation. It’s not a great idea to water in the evenings since this can promote mould growth.
10. Water your garden with a watering can rather than a hose. A hose can use as much as 1,000 litres of water an hour. Mulching your plants (with bark chippings, heavy compost or straw) will reduce evaporation and save water.
