Development Permits

What is a Development Permit (DP)?

A development permit or DP is a permit that provides permission for a specific type of development to take place on a site. A development permit approves the use of a site, as well as the size and location of any buildings or structure. All developments within Taza lands must go through the TDA Approval Process and Development Permitting Process.

Do I need a Development Permit to build on Taza Lands?

Development permits and approvals need to be obtained for new construction, renovations, and changes to how a building or land is being used.

The TDA must review the application to ensure it complies with the following documents:

Taza Development Zoning Law (PDF)

Taza Infrastructure Standards and Specifications (PDF)

Some projects requiring a permit include:

  • new buildings
  • public infrastructure
  • additions
  • replacement or repair of existing buildings
  • change in use, or intensity of use, of land or buildings
  • excavation or stockpiling of soil
  • signage on buildings

To confirm whether or not a project requires a development permit, please email tda.dp@tsuutina.com or call 310-TAZA (8292).

Development Permitting Process

The following outlines the general process for Development Permit applications. The DP process timeline is approximately 8-weeks depending on various factors that include submission quality, timeline and size. Scheduling a pre-application meeting with the TDA is strongly encouraged.
